I'm 18! My birthday was on Sunday and was, overall, a pretty good day.

It's certainly weird to think about being 18, not so much the age as what comes with it. I still haven't gotten used to it yet.

But yes! Hopefully some new stock soon to come. My camera seems to be slowly dying again. I'll try and squeeze what life if has left out of it before it does.





and I are engaged! He asked me on tuesday night and I'm STILL smiling like a lunatic. My mom thinks there's something wrong with me. I am seriously the happiest girl in the world. I'm getting married to the most AMAZING man. He's gorgeous and sweet and funny and brilliant and he treats me like a goddess. I don't know what I did to deserve him in my life. I love him soooooooooooooooooooo much. God.

I am currently working on building my index for all the newcomers so my stock will be easier to view. Because honestly, after about 20 pages in, even I get tired of browsing through that much stock XD

However, here's a rant of what I see about stock artists on dA.
It seems to me that stock artists fit into a few MAIN categories.

Category 1: Clones. Dead expressions. The apocaplypse could be taking place and I wonder if these girls would even quirk an eyebrow. Pretty, skinny girls, who use everyday clothing, and between them, the same pose 50,000 times. The same poses, used for the same types of pictures. Dark pictures or fairy pictures, angel pictures, fantasy stuff. All using these skinny pretty girls, in bland costumes doing the same boring pose over and over. Which is to be expected. But still. I don't need to provide examples, you don't have to look far for them.

Category 2: Myspace stockers. If you can call them stockers. One of the worst kinds. Take either all portrait shots, cleavage shots, eye shots, at low resolution with no extensive practical use. These are just as annoying as Category 1 in my opinion.

Category 3: Girls of every shape and size, with extensive costumes and props, who act in front of the camera and actually create unique, creative, original stock. *WolfmanX told me recently that, if you can't be a favorite, you have to be good enough so that no one can ignore you. Most of these girls are just that. They're not the generic girl, or the myspace girl, and yet they're far too good at what they do to be ignored. In the world of stock here on dA, I aspire to be like them. I encourage other new stockers to be like them aswell.

FEATURED DEVIATION:
I love this deviation, look at that waist! Makes me feel fat. And he changed my lipstick color too thank god! This piece is just really impressive I think, so go have a look at it and the rest of his gallery.

FEATURED NEW DEVIANT:
New stocker but has a lot of good and useful poses, will probably start getting a lot of attention very soon.


For these, I will offer praise and critique:
1. Praise: Creative attempts, seems to be a natural at posing, stock is widely usable. Many good images that I'm sure inspire many ideas for photomanippers. Good use of what's available. Good, consistent lighting.

2. Critique: Starts off looking like a Category 1. Needs more dynamics and facial expressions and to try and steer away from the other clones in the stock world. Should look into being more creative with what she has, costume-wise. I understand sometimes that's hard to do, but I would advise her to stay away, at least, from the 'forced goth' look that's going around (coming from a goth, I know what I'm saying. You'd never know I was goth by my stock account, and I consider that a good thing), and white and black color scheme so many use. Look to other stockers and media around you for inspiration.
